At University Centre Somerset, we are dedicated to shaping the future of nursing education. Since the launch of our Level 5 Nursing Associate pilot in 2017, we have successfully trained over 100 Nursing Associates who have gone on to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). These graduates are now making a significant impact by providing much-needed patient care throughout Somerset.
In November 2023, it was announced that Bridgwater & Taunton College have been awarded a prestigious Queen's Anniversary Prize in recognition of the pioneering nursing degree programmes delivered by University Centre Somerset. Read more about it here.
Our partnerships with the NHS and Primary Care employers continue to be instrumental in our success. Together, our vision is to build on the accomplishments of the Nursing Associate pilot and expand nursing education across Somerset. To this end, we are thrilled to be the first College in the country to have been approved by the NMC to deliver full-time nursing degree pathways.
While degree routes are typically available for application through UCAS, applications for the degree Apprenticeship routes are opened as and when vacancies are advertised. To stay informed about the latest vacancies and courses, please complete the enquiry form.
If you are considering a rewarding career in nursing but currently lack the necessary qualifications, we invite you to apply for our one-year Access to HE Diploma. This comprehensive course is specifically designed to equip learners with the essential skills required for university-level study and serves as a seamless pathway to the degree programmes offered at University Centre Somerset.
With the exception of our online Nursing Access to HE Diploma, all nursing courses are delivered at our Taunton campus. There, trainee nurses have the opportunity to learn in impressive new facilities, including our cutting-edge Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre. These facilities are designed to provide an immersive and realistic learning environment, leaving students well-prepared to excel in their nursing career.
