This week at our Taunton campus, University Centre Somerset was abuzz as we inducted 115 eager Nursing and Health Professions students. The cohort includes full-time students and apprentices enrolled in the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing and BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programmes, Trainee Nursing Associate apprentices, and Trainee Assistant Practitioner apprentices.
The induction sessions were a mix of inspiration and information. A highlight was an address by Hayley Peters, Chief Nurse at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside her, Sam Reilly, Assistant Principal, and the teaching and training team from UCS provided valuable insights into what the academic journey would entail. Practice partner colleagues from Somerset NHS Foundation Trust were on hand to offer a real-world perspective on the professions that the students are embarking on.
This new intake demonstrates UCS’s commitment to training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Applications for full-time Nursing degrees starting this academic year (2023/24) are still open and will close on Friday 29 September. Find out more and apply here.
