UCS Research and Scholarship Conference

Yesterday, our incredible team of educators and staff at UCS came together for our annual Research and Scholarship Conference, which took place at the McMillan Theatre.

The annual Research and Scholarship Conference, hosted by University Centre Somerset, allows lecturers and educators to showcase the breadth of their research across the institution. The conference provides the UCS community with an opportunity to share good practice, highlight innovations and ongoing developments in their disciplines, and foster collaboration amongst researchers.

This year topics covered included: The Pedtech revolution, self-care strategies to promote staff wellbeing in an Early Years setting, barriers that discourage people over 50 engaging in sport, widening our mentoring/coaching staff force for trainee and newly appointed teachers, treatment of recycled aggregate and spirituality of students within an FE/HE educational institution.

By holding these staff events and fostering an environment where educators are continuously researching, learning and applying new methodologies, we ensure that our students are receiving an education that is not just current but also deeply relevant to the real world. This commitment to ‘Degrees For Real Life’ is what sets UCS apart as a leading provider in higher education, where ambition and practical skills are nurtured for the success of every student.
