UCS Nursing Associate student, Millie Holley, selected as Nursing Times editor

Millie Holley, a second-year Nursing Associate student, has been selected as one of the eight student editors of the Nursing Times for 2024-2025.

Millie, from Taunton, is in her second year at University Centre Somerset studying her Nursing Associate Foundation Degree at our Taunton campus.

Every year, the Nursing Times accepts applications for the coming year from student nurses to contribute to discussions and stories of experiences in the healthcare industry. For 2024 – 2025, eight students were selected from universities across the UK. The students represent adult nursing, mental health, learning disabilities nursing, midwifery and nursing associates.

The application process takes place annually and applicants had to fill out a form and answer two questions with a 250-word limit each. The selection process is competitive. ‘As ever, the standard of applications was really high and the selection decisions tough, but we have finally settled on eight student editors from all the entries that were submitted.’ Nursing Times, 2024.

After Millie finished her GCSEs, she began studying health and social care at Richard Huish College in Taunton. However, she felt a T-Level would be a better option for her and began her studies at Bridgwater & Taunton College studying T-Level Nursing.

Once Millie completed her T-Level, she applied for both the Trainee Nursing Associate apprenticeship and the BSc Nursing (Adult). After being accepted onto both, Millie decided to pursue the route of Nursing Associate.

As part of this fantastic opportunity, regular blogs will be published on the student section of the Nursing Times. Millie’s introductory blog can be found here.
