UCS Hosts Inaugural Student Congress

Last week, University Centre Somerset (UCS) held its first-ever UCS Student Congress, a brand-new initiative designed to further enhance the Student Voice and provide students with a platform to influence their university experience.

The event brought together Student Representatives from across UCS to discuss and consult on key topics that directly impact student life. Through open discussions and collaborative sessions, students had the opportunity to share their thoughts, raise concerns, and contribute to the decisions that will shape the future of UCS.

Russ Pitt, Quality Manager at UCS, reflected on the success of the day,

"The UCS Student Congress is a fantastic opportunity for our students to take an active role in shaping their educational experience. Their feedback is invaluable in ensuring that UCS continues to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment. This will now be a key part of our commitment to listening to and acting on student perspectives.”

The UCS Student Congress will now become an annual event. This initiative is part of UCS’s ongoing efforts to create a collaborative and student-led environment, ensuring that student opinions play a central role in shaping policies, support services, and the wider university experience.

A huge thank you to all students and staff who took part in this exciting new event. We look forward to seeing the impact of these discussions and welcoming even more students to the next UCS Student Congress in 2026!
