Our Motorsport team has celebrated a hugely successful 2019 season at the 750 Motor Club awards evening at the Crowne Plaza in Stratford Upon Avon.
The team is made up of students and staff from our Motorsport Engineering and Technology courses, and runs ‘Poppet’, a Radical PR6 car driven by Course Leader Josh Smith, whilst also preparing and supporting cars for customers from across the country.
At the awards, the team collected the 2019 Bikesports Class A Championship trophy as well as a trophy for finishing in second place overall.
To top off these fantastic achievements, Poppet also picked up the Best Prepared Car prize, highly deserved recognition for the work that the students in the race team put in to the car.
During a typical race weekend, the students carry out a variety of tasks including unloading the race car, preparing the vehicle for scrutineering, carrying out pre and post-race checks, general maintenance and repair, track side activity on the pit wall and packing away at the end.
The team is now looking ahead to the 2020 season, starting with the first race meeting in April at Donington Park.
