It's been a busy term for the Creative Arts department at UCS!
Our students have been out and about, exploring the amazing art on offer nationally, and finding inspiration for their own projects back on campus.
So, we thought we'd take a few moments to share what they've been up to so far this academic year!
Fine Art Students visit Somerset Galleries
UCS Fine Art Students explored Somerset through some of its amazing artwork. This included visits to East Quay, Hestercombe Gallery, and more! You can check out more here.
Foundation Diploma Students Experiment
UCS Foundation Diploma students have been trying out lots of new and exciting techniques and exploring new concepts. To name a few stops on their journey this term, students have looked at: cyanotypes, assemblage art, fabric manipulation, and photogram collages. See more on their Instagram.
Brainworks
Our Music HND students have been getting stuck in this term. Keep an eye out for some up-and-coming artists to emerge with the Brainworks Record Label! Our course leader also had his time in the spotlight recently, starring on BBC Radio Somerset, you can listen to his interview here.
London Residential Arts Trip
Meanwhile, our Creative Digital & Graphic Design and Creative Fashion & Textiles students had the opportunity to go on a residential trip to London. There, they found inspiration at the Design Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Prosthetics Event
Lastly, our Media Make-up students spent an exciting day in Coventry at The Prosthetics Event. While they met industry stars, learnt new techniques, and shopped their favourite media make-up brands, staff ran a stand. There, two UCS alumni created fantastic media make-up demonstrations. And what else?
We have had such a busy term that we couldn't cram it all into one little post! As well as the acitvities above, students have been busy working on their projects, staff have attended events like the Rural Living Show, and we've hosted a Creative Arts Degree Taster Day.
