At University Centre Somerset (UCS), we firmly believe in creating opportunities for everyone who aspires to make a difference in the field of healthcare. That's why we are excited to announce 20 additional places on our Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing full-time degree programmes in September 2024.
We understand that a diverse range of talents and experiences can contribute to the richness of healthcare practice. By revising the BSc (Hons) Nursing entry requirements to include a Level 3 qualification in any subject, and English and maths functional skills as an alternative to GCSEs, we are opening doors to a wider pool of aspiring nurses. This change reflects our commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that more individuals with the passion and dedication to pursue rewarding nursing careers have the chance to do so.
Hayley Peters, Chief Nurse, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, says:
“The announcement of new entry criteria is amazing news for Somerset! We really value hosting local student nurses on placement and supporting them on their journey to professional registration. Supporting students into employment with us is our aim; students trained at UCS are now making an impact on patient care across the communities of Somerset, and we cannot wait to welcome more homegrown future nurses.”
In addition to the Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing full-time degree programmes, UCS offers Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degrees, with either a Health and Social Care or Mental Health route, and a Nursing Associate Foundation Degree.
