University Centre Somerset works in collaboration with a number of local and national employers to train the next generation of professionals. Our expertise and partnerships with industry enable us to facilitate opportunities that address the increasing demand for higher-level skills in Somerset and beyond. We tailor our services to needs of local businesses and the gaps that exist in the skillset of your current workforce.
Working together with employers, industry specialists, community organisations and awarding bodies, UCS develops and delivers innovative, accredited and bespoke training programmes required by businesses.
Bridgwater & Taunton College
With the delivery of our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for further education, our employer partner is Bridgwater & Taunton College. Working with us and the college, students can gain their qualification before progressing onto full-time, local employment, training Somerset’s future workforce.
Local NHS Trusts
For those training in the health sector, we have partnered with local NHS Trusts. This includes the Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeships, where students are able to earn as they learn, working between Taunton campus and local healthcare settings.
EDF
With the introduction of our Clean Energy (Nuclear) courses offered at the National College for Nuclear, we have partnered with EDF to provide students with training opportunities. As a result, many students have been able to earn as they learn with a degree apprenticeship working at Hinkley Point.
Small Businesses
There are plenty of small, local businesses that we partner with to provide students with training opportunities. So, whether you're looking to work with a student, train in your current role, or take on an apprentice, University Centre Somerset is the place for you or your business.
Apprenticeships
As the demand from industry for Higher and Degree Level Apprentices increases, we provide a growing number of opportunities, particularly for those roles that are competitive or hard to enter through the traditional university route.
