Assessment

Assessment Methods

There are no exams on this programme, each module is assessed by means of assignments which may include reflective essays, the development of learning resources and presentations. Teaching sessions take the form of short lectures, supervised discussions, small group work and guest speakers. Personal tutor and academic support is provided and facilitates individual and whole group progression.

Entry Requirements and Progression

Progression

This Foundation Degree will open up a variety of career paths and can lead to employment in family support and projects working in a range of early years settings including children’s centre worker, home/school liaison officer, early years practitioner or a role within a primary school. A top-up year is available for students who complete the Foundation Degree to achieve a Level 6 BA (Hons) Degree.

Entry Requirements

Typically entrants will possess:

  • A minimum of 64 UCAS tariff points from a full Level 3 qualification in a related subject area
  • At least four GCSEs including English and maths at grade 4 and above, or a recognised equivalent.

You will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check prior to commencing any work placement.

Mature students who do not meet these formal entry requirements are welcome to apply if they can evidence their interest, relevant experience and knowledge in the field of study.
